Salisbury’s bunting is back!

It is a certain sign that spring is here – Salisbury's bunting has returned!

The pretty street dressing, which has been funded by Salisbury BID, Salisbury City Council and the Old George Mall, is now hanging across the city centre.

In total, about 4.5 kilometres of bunting will be flying across the city once it has all been hung.

As we move towards the end of lockdown, it is hoped the bunting will bring a smile back to the faces of residents, whilst providing a bright welcome for visitors, once restrictions are relaxed.

Susi Mason, a Salisbury BID Director and Chair of the city’s vibrancy partnership, said: “Salisbury is a beautiful city and we are very luck to live and work here, but the bunting brings a little extra vibrancy which is much needed this year. I have already heard that one business owner has said that her spirits had been ‘lifted’ by it, proving it does really make a difference!”

The bunting is just one element that Salisbury BID and Salisbury City Council are working on as part of efforts to get the city ready to welcome back visitors. The BID City Ranger and City Council Street Scene Team are getting Salisbury ready by cleaning and repairing signage, tidying planters ready for summer flowers and pressure washing all pavements in the city centre - plus a lot more!

Work is also continuing on a piece of eye-catching art work for the high street. Salisbury BID will announce more details on this soon.

Dan Collins, Salisbury BID Business Manager, said: “We want to support shops and other businesses as we head out of lockdown, and when allowed, show Salisbury is open and welcoming. Salisbury BID is focusing on work that brings vitality and enthusiasm to the city centre, and we hope the bunting does just that, as well as bring a little cheer!”
