A fictional remote Scottish island provides a windswept and otherworldly setting for this poignant and wryly amusing observation of the refugee experience. Newly arrived on the island, Omar is a promising young Syrian musician who, along with an oddball collection of fellow asylum seekers, is forced to attend hilariously misjudged ‘cultural awareness’ classes, while awaiting a decision that will determine his future.
