Take part in Salisbury's new Celebration Walk

The last two years have been tough. The pandemic arrived and our lives changed, but for many it was more than just Covid they had to cope with.

Throughout the crisis, Salisbury Hospice Charity has continued to support and care for people facing terminal and advanced, progressive illness.

Now, the charity is organising an event to bring together the community to reflect on the collective loss felt by so many during the pandemic.

The Celebration Walk will also raise much needed funds for the vital service.

What is the Celebration Walk?

Before Coronavirus hit, Salisbury Hospice Charity would organise an annual Midnight Walk but the event was put on hold as the pandemic gripped the nation. Now, the charity has organised a new event to 'commemorate our collective losses and celebrate the resilience shown by us all', over the past two years.

The Celebration Walk will start and finish at the Salisbury Guildhall on Saturday 21st May 2022. There will be a choice of two brand new routes a 5 mile and a 10 mile, which will be enjoyed in the golden hours before the sun sets.

Features of the Celebration Walk will include, a minute of reflection, an opportunity to light a candle, tie a ribbon on the memorial tree and the placing of a permanent memorial tree for our community.

Plus, in line with HRH The Queen’s wish to celebrate her Jubilee by planting trees, each finisher will receive a sapling instead of a medal.

Why is it so important to support Salisbury Hospice Charity?

Salisbury Hospice Charity provides vital support to nearly 1,000 people a year and it's not just patients they help, it's their families and carers too.

The charity offers physical, spiritual, emotional and social care in homes and through non-residential and inpatient services at Salisbury Hospice. To do all this, they need to raise £1.5 million of the £2.9 million running costs each year. That's where all the money raised from the Celebration Walk will go.

How to get involved in Salisbury's Celebration Walk

If you would like to take part in the Celebration Walk, all you need to do is register to take part. It will cost £25 for adults (over 15s) and £20 for children (6-14 years old). You can sign-up by clicking here.
