Specialising in sustainable buildings, Richmond Bell Architects was founded back in July 2008 in the wake of the 2008 financial crash. The business started in London, with just James, and his laptop, working initially on residential projects. The business gradually grew and in 2011 moved from London to Salisbury. Today, they are a team of 10 and work on residential and private client projects as well as with developers and charities. A lot of their focus is on designing new homes, pool houses and barn conversions as well as the restoration of listed and heritage buildings.
What makes Richmond Bell Architects unique is their cooperative process and emphasis. Their entire workflow is a collaboration of all of the people involved and communication plays a key role in this. The team are often working alongside local consultants to deliver bespoke projects.
As a practice, they cover London to the south west, including Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. That said, theyâve also worked on projects internationally including in the Caribbean!
Into the future, the Richmond Bell Architects team are looking to empower their clients to understand and consider more sustainable options. Theyâre keen to educate on the available options and stress the importance that buildings arenât just for the now, but for the future too. Their designs use long-lasting building techniques, in conjunction with the latest technologies and renewable energy sources, to create beautiful buildings with a reduced environmental impact.
If youâre looking to renovate a heritage building or construct a new home, be sure to support independent and reach out to the friendly team at Richmond Bell Architects who are based at 20 Milford Street in the city centre.
