📍 45 - 49 Catherine Street, Salisbury, SP1 2DH
A newer addition to Salisbury’s alternative scene, The Tabletop Tavern is more than just a gaming venue. It’s a safe space to hang out, enjoy a wide range of drinks and cocktails, and spend quality time with people who share your interests. Opened by Brad and Marnie in January 2025, The Tabletop Tavern is a medieval-themed bar, coffee shop, and gaming venue nestled on Catherine Street.
Brad and Marnie have always been passionate about so-called ‘nerd culture’. Before opening The Tabletop Tavern, they operated out of Live Escape Rooms at Cross Keys Shopping Centre, running a premium Dungeons & Dragons experience. Its success inspired them to expand and create the venue they had always dreamed of running.
Stepping off Catherine Street and into the Tavern transports you to a medieval world thanks to its immersive decor and thoughtful theming. The attention to detail is superb, as is the vast array of board games available. Spanning an entire wall, guests can explore the collection for just £3 for a half day or £6 for a full day. For those seeking a more private gaming experience, a bookable private room is available in half-day blocks.
The drinks menu offers a range of themed cocktails styled as potions and elixirs, such as Goblin’s Blood and Dragon’s Breath. These magical concoctions are available daily and are a fun way to immerse yourself in the Tavern’s fantasy-inspired atmosphere.
But there’s more to The Tabletop Tavern than just drinks and board games. It’s a hub for Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer and other tabletop wargames, Magic: The Gathering, and a range of other trading card games. Whether you’re a seasoned strategist or a curious newcomer, there’s something here for everyone.
The Tabletop Tavern will soon be introducing a full food menu of hearty, medieval-inspired meals. Brad and Marnie have been working behind the scenes to perfect a range of rustic dishes designed to complement the venue’s unique atmosphere. Guests can look forward to options like their soon-to-return panini favourites alongside warming stews, ploughman’s boards, and other traditional fare with a fantasy twist.
The Tabletop Tavern is also a registered venue in the Safe Places National Network, dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, gamers or not. Brad and Marnie are passionate about fostering community and creating a space where genuine human interaction thrives.
Looking for an alternative night out? Keep an eye on their calendar for regular themed events. From western nights with horseshoe tossing and best-dressed contests to heavy metal nights filled with the loudest riffs and darkest vibes, these immersive evenings bring something truly different to Salisbury’s nightlife.
The Tabletop Tavern is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to midnight, and Sundays from 11am to 11pm. Whether you’re after a chilled coffee and a board game or a bold cocktail and a battle of wits, you’ll find something special waiting for you inside.
