  • 11:00-16:30

This workshop is an ideal introduction to the craft of handmade books using traditional sewing methods. Beginning with the simple pamphlet stitch and progressing to a six section long-stitch book, this workshop will teach you 6 different sewn book structures from the book "Non-Adhesive Binding: Books without Paste or Glue: 1" by Keith Smith. Offered as a 4.5 hour workshop to allow plenty of time for participants to enjoy learning and to achieve all six projects.

You will learn about paper grain direction, how to fold and cut down sheets of paper to make sections and how to measure and prick sewing holes accurately. Each book in this series helps you to understand how sewn bindings work, develop your technique and manual skills and most of all build your confidence.

If you would like to make you own journals and sketchbooks and are interested in learning bookbinding, this workshop is an excellent foundation to build on.
