Hello Mr Bond
Movie fans who’ve been waiting 18 months for the new James Bond movie can finally see the latest installment in the franchise at Salisbury’s Odeon cinema this weekend. No Time To Die is Daniel Craig’s last outing as the spy and features all the thrills of a 007 film. There are various screenings across the weekend. If you have never been to Salisbury’s cinema before, it is a truly unique experience. Find out why here!
Sticking with Bond, and this is the last weekend to see the Richard Chopping: The Original Bond Artist exhibition at Salisbury Museum. It perfectly coincides with the launch of the new James Bond movie, which hit cinemas this week. The exhibition celebrates the life and work of writer, illustrator and teacher Richard Chopping (1917 – 2008), who’s best-known for illustrating the original book covers for James Bond. The exhibition features some of the original working drawings for the books, including the striking skull design for Goldfinger. Runs until 3rd October.

On Saturday 2nd October, Salisbury Cathedral brings back their popular Be a Chorister for a Day event. It arks the start of their 2021-22 recruitment campaign with an invitation to boys and girls in Years 2, 3 and 4 to join the Cathedral and Cathedral School Music team for and exciting event in our majestic Cathedral.
Be a Chorister for a Day is always lots of fun, and children who attend get the opportunity to sing along with the current choristers and find out what life is like at the Cathedral and Cathedral School. Booking is essential. Click here for more information.
On your marks, get set, go!
If you do head to the Cathedral Close this weekend, look out for runners! On Sunday 3rd October, The 24th Salisbury Half Marathon takes place. 2021 will see Race HQ in the Guildhall Square with a closed road start on nearby New Canal. The route is then two laps with lap one running through the Cathedral grounds. The race will finish on the Sports Field there.
Artisans showcase their skills
Salisbury Art Scene returns to the Market Place today from 10am to 4pm. Local artists, artisans and musicians, from in and around the city, will showcase their skills during the day. Exhibitors this month include:
- Charlie Murray - a partially sighted digital artist who specialises in large scale abstract pieces inspired by the energy of the universe
- Esther Brown - a contemporary wildlife artist who uses a range of media including spray paint, acrylics, oils and pure gold leaf to create highly detailed atmospheric paintings.
- Mia Houghton - exchanging London for a studio in her beautiful hometown of Salisbury in order to start Mijoux Creations, Mia now produces gorgeous handmade silver and gemstone jewellery
