Gilbert the Dragon is back!

The Queen's Jubilee is just a week away, and Salisbury is in full bloom to celebrate!

Salisbury City Council's Parks Team have installed beautiful floral displays around the city and they all have a jubilee theme with red, white and blue flowers.

Cllr Alan Bayliss, one of the Council’s Leaders, said, “I want to say a big thank you to the Parks Team for their hard work in once again decorating the city with the beautiful floral displays. They enhance the city’s appearance every year and it is great to see the Queen’s Jubilee celebrated in this way.”

The team have worked hard to install the displays and make sure there's extra colour and vibrancy in Salisbury as we celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

There are over 370 hanging baskets and 30 flower towers/planters to be enjoyed by visitors and residents and one very special display is back - Gilbert the Dragon!

Gilbert has taken up residence at Salisbury Market Place. Standing approximately 8 foot tall and weighing an impressive 1.5 tonnes, Gilbert’s body will also be adorned with red, white and blue plants to celebrate the Jubilee.

The flower dragon is maintained by Salisbury City Council and has attracted large amounts of attention from visitors and residents of Salisbury since he first appeared in 1999.
