#SaturdaySpotlight - The Gatehouse Antiques

šŸ“   51 High Street, Salisbury, SP1 2PB

The Gatehouse Antiques, next to Salisbury’s medieval Cathedral Gate, opened its doors in November 2023. Owner Alan, who has been in business for over 45 years, saw the building was available and immediately loved it. He felt it perfectly matched the vibe of his business.

The Gatehouse is a single owner curated collection of antiques, jewellery and curios, with items sourced by Alan and curated by both Alan and Rachel, the store’s manager. The shop is set over three floors and the staff like to affectionally refer to it as ā€˜a living museum you can buy from’ as it truly is home to a vast range of varied items. Jewellery, coins, ceramics, decanters, silverware and furniture are just some of the many items you can find nestled in their wonderfully presented displays.

Jewellery is quite a large part of their offering, with both cheaper options available as well as unique luxury pieces. All of their gems are natural (unless they say otherwise), and their jewellery is available for try on too. Alongside all of their products for sale, the team also buy scrap gold and silver. Reach out directly to the team to hear about their current prices.

On the lower floor of The Gatehouse Antiques you can find Captive Worlds, owned by John. A specialist in bespoke aquariums and terrariums, John creates unique landscaped scenes for both the home and commercial installations. Fancy having a go at making your own? You can find a whole range of supplies as well as take part in one of Captive World’s regular workshops.

An antiques store in a 16th century building, what’s not to love… Be sure to pop into The Gatehouse Antiques for a browse, you never know what you might spot!
