Christmas and ghost stories never go out of fashion, and Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is probably the most famous of them all. This adaptation is by Patrick Barlow, who brought the hit comedy version of The 39 Steps to the stage, and runs at Studio Theatre in Ashley Road, Salisbury, from 4th-12th December.
Ebenezer Scrooge is mean-spirited, miserly and set in his ways…until one Christmas Eve and a series of ghostly visitors. A handful of actors play many parts from Tiny Tim to long-dead Marley. There will be dancing at Fezziwig’s party, lots of carol-singing, ghosts, puppets, a change of heart and a happy ending.
Age Guidance 10+ because it reflects the harsh times of Victorian England and includes paranormal activity – but nothing too scary.
