This year, Sarum Lights returns to Salisbury Cathedral with Great Journeys, a new immersive light and sound experience created by the acclaimed artistic collaboration Luxmuralis. Through a series of installations outside and inside the Cathedral, the experience explores the many journeys that have shaped our world, from great voyages of exploration and human migration to the development of transport, mapping and discovery.
As visitors move through the Cathedral, each space offers a different perspective on movement and connection. Themes include the ways people have travelled across land, sea and sky, the remarkable migrations of animals, and how maps have helped us understand and navigate the world. Alongside these historical and natural journeys, visitors are also invited to reflect on the journeys we make through our own lives.
The experience culminates in the Cathedral’s soaring nave, transformed through large-scale projection and an immersive soundtrack that brings together the themes of the exhibition.
Accompanied by an original score, this new sound and light spectacular will reveal this iconic Cathedral in a whole new light.
