'The Stillness of Becoming' a solo exhibition by Louise Bougourd

Award-winning artist Louise Bougourd has been sketching and painting the landscape for more than 30 years. Fisherton Mill is delighted to be hosting Louise’s latest collection of works entitled ‘The Stillness of Becoming’, an evocative series of abstracted landscapes in mixed media and oils, created with a soft meditative palette, which dissolves the horizon and definition, inviting a slower way of looking. These are not depictions of specific places, but quiet terrains of feeling, a space where light lingers, edges soften, and time seems suspended.
“Time changes much in our lives, remaining still is often very hard to do for any length of time; the paintings in this collection represent ‘Stillness’ where life has encouraged, even forced me to remain still, to breathe gently, to observe my surroundings - to just be present in the moment. In these moments I have discovered that I have more to say in my art, more emotion to reveal through brush marks and use of blank surface within a painting”.
Louise’s work has been exhibited at many prestigious venues including Mall Galleries London, the Chelsea Art Society, the Society of Women Artists and the Royal Institution.
