‘Wassailing’ is an ancient English Folk Custom originally held on Twelfth Night. It involved visits to people’s homes and to orchards with the objective of blessing the crop (mainly apples) to ensure a good harvest for the forthcoming year. There has been a revival of Wassailing in recent years. Involved is singing, dancing and general merrymaking. The event should last about two hours; it is a community event so all are welcome.
There is no need to book and no entrance charge, but donations can be made towards the restoration of the barn.
Children are especially welcome but should be kept under supervision. Appropriate clothing and footwear should be worn, and a torch brought.
On-Site parking is not available, and participants are encouraged to walk, cycle or come by public transport. A bus timetable is available at https://www.salisburyreds.co.uk/services/SWWD/R6
