New independent businesses opened in Salisbury during Covid

As Independents Month continues, we celebrate all those new indies that have bravely launched during the coronavirus crisis and are now part of the Salisbury city centre independent business community.

We all know it’s been a tough 18 months. We have struggled through a pandemic and three lockdowns, but Salisbury has remained strong and the future is looking bright.

There is much to be positive about: the end of restrictions is due to happen on July 19th and a range of new independent businesses have chosen Salisbury as their home.

The list of new independent businesses opening in Salisbury during Covid includes:

Brown Street - Salisbury’s newest outside venue with food, drink and entertainment

Sonder Coffee - café on the high street with a quirky design and welcoming feel

Artisan Wine & Spirit Co - a hand selected range of amazing wines and spirits

Clearway Pets - everything you need for your pet!

The Salisbury Orangery - café in a beautifully renovated Tudor building

The Salisbury Office - offering 9 luxury working space ‘pods’ for businesses

Pizza Venti - wood burning stone baked pizza to eat-in or takeaway

Studio 15 - for hair, beauty and sunbed treatments

Nole Pizza - handcrafted pizza on Salisbury’s historic Market Place

Lah Koh - for healthy hotpots, salads and soups

Sonner Toys - for collectables and toys

My Comic Soda Bar - comics, toys and collectibles with food and drink

Muse Hairdressing - a sustainable hair salon

Bond Dental Clinic - a private dental practice and specialist referral centre

Gringo's - takeaway and restaurant that is the home of Peri Peri flavour with a Mexican twist

New Tadi Market - supermarket now with a butcher with Halal meats

etica Boutique - a collection of loungewear, accessories and homewares

No 65 Hair & Beauty - a range of hair and beauty services

Gold Coast Groceries - an Afro-Caribbean supermarket

Salisbury Gift Co – for a variety of original gifts

Bucuresti Mini Market - a convenience store

Kasmia Barber – Salisbury’s newest barber shop

Naked Bagel – we know this one isn’t technically new but they’ve moved to new, bigger premises on the Market Place with outside seating and it’s looking great!

During Independents Month we recognise and champion all the hard work from these businesses that have newly opened during an extremely tough and uncertain time. Congratulations!

Alex Popescu, owner of Pizza Venti, said: “We opened in November, in full pandemic! Opening a family business is never easy and we would like to thank everyone for their support. We wouldn't of survived without the support from the community. We wanted to bring something different to Salisbury and our wood burning stone baked oven plus high quality products manage to achieve this. We are really proud to be part of such a strong community with so many independents!"

Salisbury is a beautiful city and offers many opportunities for business owners. It is a special place made all the more special by the independent business that are found here. You can find a full directory of all our wonderful independent shops here and our independent eateries here.

Don’t forget, throughout July shoppers can pick up a free Salisbury tote bag by spending £20 or more in participating city centre independent businesses. Full details can be found here.

Salisbury, independent and strong.

A focus on indies...
