Few political figures are as recognisable or influential as Nelson Mandela. In this talk, Professor Christopher Prior explores how Mandela came to embody one of the defining political and humanitarian causes of the twentieth century.
Beyond the familiar story lies a broader question: how did Mandela come to represent a movement that resonated around the world? Looking behind the scenes, Professor Prior considers the factors that explain Mandela’s rise from anti-apartheid activist and political prisoner to becoming the figurehead of the struggle against apartheid.
